Egg burgers


  • Soft burger buns 2,
  • halved length ways Butter  55 g (2 oz)
  • Ham 2 round slices Prepared mustard
  • 2 tsp Cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices Cooking oil 2 Tbsp
  • Eggs 2

 Egg burgers are especially popular with children. They make a delicious snack, but can also be served as a light meal. Allow 2 burgers per person.

Serves 2


  1. Preheat grill (broiler) to high, then lightly toast cut sides of buns until golden brown. Remove from heat. Keep grill hot.
  2. Spread each toasted bun half with butter, then top each bottom half with ham. Spread a little mustard over each slice of ham and cover with a slice of cheese.
  3. Place bun halves under hot grill for 5 minutes or until cheese has melted and turned golden brown.
  4. While buns are bring grilled, heat oil in a pan over moderate heat and fry eggs sunny side up or until whites are solid and yolks still runny and soft.
  5. Remove buns from grill and place a fried egg on each one. Top with remaining bun halves. Serve immediately.
